After 22 years PIC, I decided to change direction in my life and discover the rest of the world. It’s been in the planning for years to make this decision and now it’s time. Since last year, I know I’ve a nasty disease (Lymphoma) and although this is not a positive reason, it’s just the pressure that I need to do it. It is a bit painful to let go and it is not my intention to the sex workers rights movement and the Red Light District to abandon them, but it feels like the only correct decision I can make right now. My future is uncertain and I do not want the PIC should therefore stop one day. Because I now have the right people around me, the PIC can continue with a good team who can continue my work and give PROUD -the sex workers union- a strong home base.
The PIC will continue to visit for anyone, on days and times listed on this website. The lectures and tours continue to be taught by the same team of volunteers together with people from PROUD. The email address and phone number remain the same and the visitor center at the ‘Enge Kerksteeg’ will remain open for anyone that needs info or advice about sex work.
Foundation PIC gets a new board consisting of Laurens Buijs and Nadia van der Linde. If you visit PIC, you can find: Miriam, Berna, Jaq, Selena or several people from team PROUD using the PIC as a workplace.
Thursday, August 25 is my last day. Visitors, friends and colleagues: I’d like to say goodbye to you between 16:00 and 19:00 on that day. I invite you to come by and drink something together!
I wish you all the best!
